14 Days Overland Kailash Mansarovar Tour from Lhasa

Day 01 : Arrival Lhasa airport from Beijing or Chengdu or Kathmandu

Once you reach the Lhasa airport from Chegdu, Beijing or Kathmandu, you shall be greeted by our representative from WOO Adventures. From there, they will transfer you to your accommodation in Lhasa city. The drive from the airport to your hotel would be approximately two hours and the journey is going to be very beautiful throughout. Check-in at your hotel, and spend the rest of the day in leisure activities as per your comfort.

Flight information: Just in case you are travelling from Kathmandu to Lhasa, you need to keep in mind that the flight only operates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This package cost does not come inclusive of any charges to reach Lhasa from Kathmandu/Beijing/Chengdu.

Day 02 : Jokhang Monastery & Potala Palace Tour

Start your morning with a delightful breakfast and once you are done with it, you will be taken for a guided sightseeing tour of Lhasa. This comes inclusive of your visit to the Jokhang Monastery and Potala Palace. Apart from this, don’t forget to explore the majorly renowned Barkhor Market that is considered as a very stunning traditional Tibetan market in Lhasa. Also, make sure that you are enjoying some local food in a restaurant. Once done, return to your Lhasa hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 03 : Drepung Monastery Tour

Today is going to be a very special one for you since you’ll be facilitated with a half-day sightseeing tour of the Drepung Monastery. Start your morning with some breakfast and get all set for this tour. During the tour, make sure you are not forgetting to enjoy some local food at a restaurant in Lhasa on a direct payment basis. After completing the tour, return to your Lhasa hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 04 : Drive Lhasa to Shigatse or Lhatse

After breakfast, start your scenic drive to Shigatse. Along the way, you would be enjoying the stunning landscapes of Tibet. Enroute, take a stop and explore the Tashilhunpo Monastery that was founded in 1447. Also, it has been referred to as the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama. If time allows, continue your journey to Lhatse for an overnight stay, soaking in the tranquility of the region’s highland charm.

Day 05 : Drive Shigatse/Lhatse to Saga County

Once you are done with your breakfast at your accommodation, now is the time for you to start your drive towards Saga. Saga is referred to as the entry point for the Kailash Mansarovar region. Via this drive, you will be witnessing severa beautiful sites and small settlements enroute. Saga carries a literal meaning of “Happy Land” in the Tibetan language. It is also considered as a very significant point of connectivity since it joins Shigatse, Gyirong and Zhongba. Once you reach Saga, spend some time exploring its beautiful markets and streets. Overnight stay in your accommodation at Lhasa.

Day 06 : Saga to Lake Mansarovar

Today is going to be an excitement filled day for you since we will be heading towards Lake Mansarovar. Get done with your breakfast and commence your drive from Saga to Mansarovar Lake. During this journey, you will be having the first ever look of the holy Mount Kailash. On the way, we would be crossing the various crosspoints to reach the pious lake Mansarovar. Once you reach your destination i.e. the Lake Mansarovar, you will be checking into an accommodation quite near to this lake. Freshen up and pay a visit to the divine lake. Spend some time there and stargaze at night. Enjoy your dinner and stay in the guesthouse.

Day 07 : Exploration of Lake Manasarovar drive to Darchen

Have your breakfast and then move to Lake Mansarovar to experience the divine aura of this lake filled with bliss, compassion and tranquillity. Please note that it is not allowed to take bath directly in this holy lake. Thus, one of our guides will give the water to you in a bucket and you can take a bath with that water on the shore. Once done, our group will head towards Darchen that is known as the base of Mount Kailash. There, you will be staying for the night.

Day 08 : Trekking to Dirapukh, First day of Kailash Kora

Today is one of the most exhilarating days of the journey, as you walk along stunning rocky cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and beneath a sky scattered with drifting clouds. Every step feels blessed, as though Lord Shiva's presence surrounds you, filling the air with spiritual energy. Throughout the trek, the majestic face of Mount Kailash will occasionally reveal itself, offering moments of awe and reflection. The 13 km trail typically takes 4 to 6 hours, depending on individual pace and weather conditions. Upon reaching Dirapuk, where the imposing North Face of Mt. Kailash stands in full glory, check into your guesthouse for the night. Take time to soak in the profound beauty and sacred atmosphere of this revered site — a place millions dream of witnessing, where nature’s grandeur and spiritual grace exist in perfect harmony.

Day 09: Trekking to Zuthulphuk via Gauri Kund, Second day of Kailash kora

Complete your breakfast and get ready for the hardest but the holiest day of the tour. Today, you will be crossing the Shiva Sthal in order to reach the Dolma La Pass (18600 ft). Upon reaching, sit closer to the Gauri Kund lake and spend some time offering the prayers. Once you are done with it, continue with your trek and reach Zuthulphuk that is considered as the “Cave of Miracles”. On arrival, check into your simple guesthouse for an overnight stay, resting in the peaceful aura of this spiritually significant site.

Day 10: Trek to Darchen, Drive to Saga

After trekking for about 3 hours and completing a journey of 6 kms, you will be meeting your driver who will take you to Darchen. There, other group travellers would be expecting your arrival for the return journey. The moment you reach Darchen, it shall mark the conclusion of your circumambulation/kora. Join your group and be a part of the return drive towards Saga. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 11 : Saga to Gyirong/Kerung drive

Once you are done with a lovely breakfast, we’ll be packing our bags to head towards Gyirong, which is the China-Nepal border point. Today’s journey is going to be around 210 km in order to arrive at Gyirong. Enroute, you will be crossing the Brahmaputra river, passing via Peiku lake. Stay overnight at your accommodation in Gyirong.

Day 12: Gyirong to Kathmandu

Start your day with breakfast at your hotel and then commence your drive to the China-Nepal border. Upon reaching there, complete the required border formalities and enter the Nepal side. Here, you will be bidding farewell to your Tibetan guide and on the Nepal side, the local Nepalese vehicles will be expecting your arrival. From there, they will take you to the capital city, Kathmandu. This drive is going to be a bumpy one since you will be passing through some rough roads and overall, it will be a journey of 7-8 hours. Overnight stay in Kathmandu’s five-star hotel.

Day 13 : Temple visits and Kathmandu sightseeing

Wake up early in the morning and pay a visit to the divine Pashupatinath temple for puja. After that, visit the renowned Jal Narayan Vishnu Temple and Guhyeshwari Mata Temple Shakti Peeth. Once done, now is the time for you to explore the historic Bhaktapur city. Have some lunch in a local restaurant and spend the rest of the free time in shopping and activities of your choice. Overnight stay in your Kathmandu’s accommodation.

Day 14 : Bid farewell to Kathmandu

Have some breakfast in your accommodation and then pack your bags to leave for your home. Check out in time (1200 hours, noon). Our representative would help your transfer to the Kathmandu airport and from there you’ll be boarding your flight for your next destination/home.
